    Who can join the club?
HRC caters for anyone preferably above the age of 14 - girls, boys, women and men of all levels of experience. We encourage not only competition, but also rowing to be enjoyed by all those involved.
The Club expects a co-operative and enthusiastic person who participates in training, competition, boat loading and unloading for regattas, boat maintenance, fundraising and HRC social activities.

What if I've never rowed before?
HRC conducts training sessions for beginners every Sunday at 8:00am. Beginner lessons last around one hour, and cost $30 for three lessons. This fee would be deducted from your membership fee upon joining the club.

What should I wear for rowing?
Non baggy type short (eg tights) and fitted shirts are best to prevent your clothes from catching in the seat and rigging. You will also need a pair of water boots or long socks.
On colder days, warm tracksuit style clothing is preferred. On warmer days, a water bottle carried in the boat, sunscreen and hat are essential.

Learning to row is a fun experience. One of our members, Karen, who learned to row last season compiled the following fabulous story, for our latest newsletter, of her experiences in her first rowing season.
